2011 | Silver 925 thousandths | Spanish Province Capitals (3rd Emission) | Spain is Art

Reproduction of a coin in proof quality, presented in a triptych display wrapped in a strip with the encapsulated coin. The coin, with a limited circulation of 15,000 units, is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a proof of purchase by the FNMT-RCM.
This coin of 5 euros face value, reproduces on the obverse the coat of arms and name of the Capital or Autonomous City, and on the reverse a monument or motif representing it.
In this case it reproduces the REAL COLEGIATA DE SAN ISIDORO. It is considered to be one of the jewels of Romanesque art in Spain. The architectural complex was built in the city of León during the 11th and 12th centuries, with some Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements added later. It owes its name to San Isidoro de Sevilla, whose remains were moved to the city in 1063. At the foot of the church is the Royal Phanteon, known as the “Sistine Chapel” from the Romanesque period, for its exceptional mural paintings.
