This coin of 5 euros face value, reproduces on the obverse the coat of arms and name of the Capital or Autonomous City, and on the reverse a monument or motif representing it.
In this case it reproduces the CATEDRAL.The Catedral of San Salvador de Oviedo, also known as Sancta Ovetensis, was built from the end of the 13th century to the middle of the 16th century, although other buildings were added during the 17th and 18th centuries. The Catedral is located in the same place as an old Romanesque temple of which some testimonies are preserved, such as the Romanesque tower and a room called Cámara Santa. The Cámara Santa, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998, preserves the Cruz de la Victoria, the symbol of Asturias, and the Cruz de los Ángeles, the symbol of the city of Oviedo.
